Lacco Ameno d'Ischia
Lacco Ameno d'Ischia is a small fishing village situated on one of Italy's most beautiful islands, Ischia.
It is an important spa centre and bathing resort, characterized by the clarity and delightful smell of its waters. Lacco Ameno also has another interesting feature: a tall, mushroom-shaped tuff formation which rises out of the sea close to the beach, its shape created after many years of erosion by the waves and wind.
For anyone wanting to spend a holiday of relaxation and well-being, Lacco Ameno provides the perfect solution. It is a small, quiet place, but with an important spa centre, excellent hotels and amenities, a lovely beach for swimming and sun-bathing, and a historic town centre with shops and sophisticated boutiques.
In addition to all this, there are some important archaeological sites nearby, such as the San Montano Necropolis, remains of columns and Roman walls, and a fortification erected on Monte Vico, rising up high behind the village. There is also the interesting Museum of the Pithecusans at Villa Arbusto with some valuable remains dating from Neolithic times to the Roman era.
The Bay of San Montano is also a fascinating place to visit, with its lovely beach and shallow waters, located in a beautiful position.
