Excursions in Romagna Hinterland
To its visitors, the Adriatic Coast offers thousands of possibilities.
Here the holiday is above all made of sea, sun and fun, but not only. To the tourists, also the hinterland of Romagna’s coast presents a lot of pleasant surprises.
Here, people who loves walking, cultural tourism, nature, trekking and trips, will found a real paradise. Hills and mountains of Romagna’s and Marche’s Apennines offer to the visitor the ideal territory to take adventure trips or simply a total relax among the nature.
Between the territories of Pesaro and Gabicce Mare, so near to the most famous towns of Romagna’s Adriatic Coast, there is for example the Park of San Bartolo, delimited by the rivers Foglia and Tavollo. Wide on a surface of 1.600 hectares, it is characterized by high coasts of cliff to precipice on the sea. On its tops, have been found a lot of fossils fishes and rare chalk crystals.
In the same proximities of the Park of St. Bartolo, there are other many interesting natural zones. In the town territory of Torriana, here is the Oasis of Montebello – where is completely visitable the castle famous for the “Azzurrina Ghost” – that on 1.200 hectares also welcomes the Valmarecchia Naturalistic Observatory. Or, the river Park of the Marano, in which it is easy to see Martin Pescatore’s chasing fishes in the river.
In the territory of Gemmano, the Natural Reserve Orientata of Onferno is famous for the typical carsic caves that can be admired with guided tours. For the flora and botany lovers, it is absolutely to visit the Arboretum of Mondaino, in the homonym town on the Rimini’s hills, where a wide wood on 9 hectares enumerates over 5.000 different plants typical of the Mediterranean vegetation.
